The 1N34A Germanium Diodes are getting very hard to find. The 1N914 and 4002 and 1N34A Diodes are Great when used as Clipping Diodes. Each will give you a very different type of gain. The Germanium has a very soft fuzz type vibe. The 1N914 has a very hard type vibe. The 4002 has a very soft smooth type vibe. I will also use LEDs as clipping diodes.
